Guidance on the sign up process is shown below. Please note that VT Software cannot provide support on the sign up process as it is operated by HMRC and does not involve VT applications. If you encounter any issues during this process, please contact HMRC.
If you are required to use MTD for Income Tax, sign up to MTD for Income Tax as follows: (Alternatively, your accountant may be able to sign you up as shown in Agents) 1.Click on the following link to the sign up page: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sign-up-for-making-tax-digital-for-income-tax 2.Scroll down the page and click Sign up now:
3.Select Government Gateway then Continue: (Do not select GOV.UK One Login as this service does not currently cover MTD for Income Tax.)
4.Enter your government gateway user ID and password and select Sign in:
If you cannot find this ID, search for 'Government Gateway user ID' in your emails. Alternatively, select 'I have forgotten my Government Gateway user ID' from the sign in screen and follow the instructions given. If necessary, you may need to contact HMRC. If you do not have a government gateway user ID, click 'I do not have a Government Gateway User ID', then select Create new sign in details. 5.Once signed in, follow the required instructions given by HMRC.
