When you run a VAT return, all transactions with VAT that have not been included in a previous VAT return on that particular file, will be picked up in the next VAT return. This includes transactions dated before the current VAT return.
If you want to exclude these transactions from your next VAT return:
•If you have already created your next VAT return, delete this return.
•Create a VAT return for the period that covers the old transactions. These transactions will be picked up in this VAT return.
•Save this return but do not submit it to HMRC.
•Create your next VAT return due and the old transactions will be excluded.
