VT Transaction+

Importing journals

Journals can be imported from text files, csv files or from data copied onto the clipboard by any spreadsheet or application.

The primary purpose of this feature is to import csv trial balance files from Sage, but the feature has been made flexible enough to import lists in virtually any format. For instance, the following can also be imported:

A conversion table mapping the standard Sage chart of accounts to VT Transaction+ accounts is built into the software, or you can set up your own conversion tables. For custom tables, there is a button to automatically match incoming account names to VT Transaction+ names based on a partial match. Hence an incoming account called Salaries would automatically match to the standard VT Transaction+ account called Wages and salaries.

To import a journal in VT Transaction+:
Choose the Transaction>Journal>Import command, or click on the down arrow just to the right of the JRN button on the toolbar

To import a journal in linked entry workbooks in VT Final Accounts in Excel:
Choose the VT Books>Enter Journals>Import command, or click on the journal import button on the VT toolbar

You cannot import a journal into manual entry VT Final Accounts workbooks using VT Transaction+, but a third party product to do this is available from BTC Software.
