Using VT Transaction on a network
The data for each business in VT Transaction is stored in a single file with a .tra extension. There is no limit on the number of files you can have but only one user can open the same file at the same time.
The data files exist independently to the VT Transaction program. The data files can be stored in any folder/drive on your network to which you have access. The files can be moved around using My Computer/Windows Explorer.
VT Transaction should be installed on each local PC that is used to access files. It does not need to be installed on the PC where the data files are held. There is no special network version of VT Transaction.
To open a file on a network drive, navigate to it using My Computer/Windows Explorer and double click on it. Alternatively you can use the Open Company command from the File menu in VT Transaction. Another good idea is to create a shortcut on your desktop to the folder that contains the data files.
When you first choose the New Company or Open Company commands in VT Transaction, the C:\Transact folder is initially selected. This behaviour can be changed by clicking with the right mouse button on the shortcut you use to start VT Transaction and choosing Properties. In the Properties dialog change the folder shown in the Start In box.
