VT Final Accounts
VT Final Accounts requires Microsoft Excel 2002 for Windows or later. iXBRL required features that were not available in Excel 1997 and 2000 and hence these versions are no longer supported.

EXCEL 2010 64 BIT
Please note that Excel 2010 is available in both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. VT Final Accounts is not compatible with the 64 bit version. However, Microsoft are recommending the 32 bit version of Excel for most users (even if they are running 64 bit versions of Windows).

Choose the the File>Help command in Excel 2010 to ascertain the version you are using. In the About Microsoft Excel section, the words 32 bit or 64 bit will be shown after the version number.

If you have the 64 bit version installed, you need to uninstall Microsoft Office and install the 32 bit version. Your license entitles you to both versions. More info on 32 bit versus 64 bit Excel...

EXCEL 2010 CLICK TO RUN
Excel 2010 is also available in a Click to run version which is installed virtually (ie you cannot find Excel.exe in the C:\Program files folder or anywhere else on your hard disk). VT Final Accounts is not compatible with this installation of Excel. In VT's experience, very few users have a Click to run installation.

Choose the the File>Help command in Excel 2010 to see if you have a Click to run installation. In the About Microsoft Excel section, the words Click to run will be shown.

If you have the Click to run version installed, you need to uninstall Microsoft Office and install the normal version. Your license entitles you to both versions.

VT Transaction+ and VT Cash Book
VT Transaction+ and VT Cash Book require Microsoft Windows 2000 or later. They have been tested without problem in Windows 7. They run in both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows.

The old VT Transaction
Support is no longer provided for the old VT Transaction. The old VT Transaction is a 16 bit program originally written for Windows 3.1 in the early 1990's. 16 bit programs do not run on 64 bit versions of Windows. VT Transaction has not been tested in 32 bit Windows 7. It does run in 32 bit Windows Vista, but there are some known problems.

32 bit and 64 bit explained
32 bit and 64 bit refers to the number of binary (eg 0 or 1) digits used to store a simple number in a computer chip. Since 1995, the vast majority of PC's have been 32 bit, although 64 bit versions of XP and Vista were available. 64 bit computers running Windows 7 are more common. Before 2010, virtually all software was 32 bit even on 64 bit PC's. You can run 32 bit programs on 64 bit PC's, but not vice versa.

Apple Mac
None of VT's applications run directly on the Apple Mac operating system. They are for Windows only. It is not economic for VT to develop versions for the Mac.
