Excel loads slowly

Summary

You can make Excel load more quickly by:

• Disabling some of the VT add-ins (they will then only load when you click on a button on one of the VT toolbars)

• Disabling the part of your virus checker that scans Excel

• Making sure that you are not running any Sage add-ins

Disabling the VT add-ins

• Choose the Add-Ins command from the Tools menu of Excel

• Untick VT Data Export and VT Final Accounts. DO NOT untick the VT Function Library

Disabling the Excel virus scan

The best way to protect your computer from viruses is to make sure that all incoming emails are checked. There is very little need to scan Excel add-ins every time they are opened. To disable the Excel scan in Norton AntiVirus:

• Double click on the Norton AntiVirus icon at the right hand end of your taskbar

• Click on Options

• Click on Miscellaneous

• Untick the Enable Office Plug-in check box and then click the OK button
