General
With all tax packages, the company registration number in the iXBRL accounts
file must exactly match the the number in the CT600, including leading zeros.
Some tax packages also check the the company name (including capitalisation) and the accounting period dates in the iXBRL accounts file exactly match the CT600 . Strictly speaking this is unnecessary as HMRC do not carry out these checks. Minor differences in the company name have caught some users out.
Make sure the iXBRL file you have generated in VT Final Accounts is really the one you are attaching to your tax package! You can check that a file is an iXBRL file by opening it in VT Fact Viewer (right mouse click on it and choose Open With VT Fact Viewer from the pop-up menu).
iXBRL files created in the trial version of VT Final Accounts (eg before you have entered a license key) are not valid. More...
A few users have managed to corrupt their iXBRL accounts file by opening and saving it in Excel. More...
Occasionally, iXBRL files get corrupted when they are emailed and this causes a Malformed XML rejection message on submission. More...
Full accounts must be submitted to HMRC. If you submit abbreviated accounts, you will get a submission error back from HMRC saying that the tags for the officer signing the directors' report and the for date of signing are missing. More...
If you are getting a submission error from your tax package then it is down to your tax package vendor to sort out. The only exception to this is if the location of the error is specifically stated as being in the accounts.

No problems. You need to say no to the question Do you want to use the
accounts service? You can then attach the iXBRL accounts file generated by
VT.
BTC
No problems with accounts. If you attach a VT tax computation to BTC, you will
get a message about turnover being zero (turnover is not normally shown in VT's
tax comp). You can still choose to continue. You may get other warning messages
which you can also choose to ignore.
CCH CorTAX
Some users have reported that CorTAX issues a warning (and will not allow you to
proceed) if exactly specified wording is not included at the foot of the balance
sheet. This is NOT an HMRC requirement, but it is currently a Companies House
requirement. More...
Drummohr
No problems normally. The company name in the CT600 must match exactly the name
in the accounts, including capitalisation. There is currently an issue with
companies with an ampersand character in their name. Until Drummohr fix this,
the only solution is to replace the
ampersand character with and in both VT and Drummohr.
PTP
No problems normally, but there are currently issues with PTP with companies
with an ampersand character in the their name or with accounting periods that
are not 12 months. The company name and accounting period dates in the CT600 must
match the iXBRL accounts exactly. Until PTP fix the ampersand problem, the only
solution is to replace the
ampersand character with and in both VT and PTP.
