Cannot find Man*.xlt/Lnk*.xlt message when creating a new accounts workbook

For a very few users, the New Accounts Workbook button or command does not work. Excel reports that the template file (eg Manfrsse.xlt, Lnkfrsse.xlt or similar) cannot be found, even though it is present.

The cause of this problem is not currently known. The workaround is to open the template directly using My Computer/Windows Explorer. The template files are held in the XLStart folder of whichever folder Excel is in. For Excel 2003 this is typically C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office11/XLStart

Step by step

• Click Start

• Click My Computer

• Double click Local disk c

• Double click on Program files

• Double click on Microsoft office

• Double click on Office, Office10 or Office11 depending on your version of Excel

• Double click on XLStart

• Double click on the template file named in your error message. This creates a copy of the template
