Where should be dividends be entered?

Since 2005, dividends on ordinary are no longer shown on the face of the profit and loss account. Instead they are shown in the profit and loss account note in the balance sheet. Dividends on ordinary shares should therefore be debited (analysed) to the following accounts:

Files originally created in VT Transaction
Ledger: Shareholders' funds
Account: P/L a/c - equity dividend (You may need to set up this account if the file was created in an old version of VT Transaction)

Files created in VT Transaction+
Ledger: Profit and loss account
Account: Equity dividends

Manual entry workbooks in VT Final Accounts
Column A: Profit and loss account
Column B: Equity dividends (Eg the second to last row in the balance sheet section of the trial balance)
