Companies Act 2006

The provisions in the Companies Act 2006 relating to the form and content of company accounts apply to accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2008. Accounts for periods before that are still prepared under the Companies Act 1985.

Hence the new provisions will first apply to years ending 5 April 2009 or later (unless a company has changed its year-end and has a shorter period). A new edition of VT Accounts will be released before then which will contain templates for both the old and the new formats.
